Reconditioned Rear Differential - Exclusive to Bell Engineering

The size/load rating of the nose bearings on these units were too small when designed and manufactured by Land Rover. At Bell Engineering we have devised a method to modify the diff to allow us to fit a physically larger nose bearing that can withstand 25% greater loading, greatly improving the life of these diffs. These upsized bearings have been fitted to all our diffs since April 2015. At present we are the only company offering the upsized bearing.

Reconditioned Front Differential / Transfer Boxes / Power Transfer Unit (PTU)

Due to the common spline failure/wear issue on these units we are now re-manufacturing the splines to ensure all units are as good as new. We are currently the only company in the world offering these units with new splines, even the genuine Land Rover units come with worn splines!

Due to the re-manufacturing costs we have 3 options depending on availability and gearbox your car is fitted with.

Resplined - Best option if you have an Auto​ gearbox, these PTU feature a brand new hardened splines.

Manual Sleeved - Best option if you have a manual gearbox, these PTU come with a modified sealing system that prevents future spline failure, and includes the expensive sleeve that mates to the gearbox.

Reconditioned original PTU with good splines - Occasionally we manage to source PTU's with no worn or damaged splines that we are happy to rebuild and supply at the original cost. The availability of these isn't guaranteed and as time progresses the availability will decrease.

There are several issues these units can suffer, but one of the biggest problems is the unit releasing incorrectly, giving a juddering / graunching effect during slow speed manoeuvres.

After many, many hours of research and testing Bell Engineering have solved this issue and can recondition these units back to a fully functioning unit. We are the only people in the world who have solved this problem and can offer properly functioning units.

The rebuild process is extremely complicated and requires specialist tools and knowledge, that we have developed ourselves in house.

Pump failures are usually due to dirty oil and a clogged filter, we therefore recommend that the Haldex should be service before fitting a new pump to prevent prematurely failure of the new pump

Genuine Haldex AWD Transmission Fluid

This is the exact fluid specified and sold by Land rover as part number LR003036 and LR054941.

Land Rover and their suppliers sell this in 300ml containers at around £24.
-
To refill a Haldex you require 700-750ml to do it correctly, meaning you have to buy 3 containers at nearly £75. We supply this exact fluid in 750ml containers for the price shown, meaning a great saving and the convenience of having the exact amount required.

Manual 6-Speed Gearbox

A common failure with these boxes is a crunching when changing into 3rd, caused by a worn syncro.

Also the splines on the gearbox can also fail, causing loss of rear wheel drive.

Units are sold on an exchange basis, i.e we must have you old unit in exchange for the advertised price. If units show obvious signs of damage, e.g. broken casing, damaged gears, please disclose this as it could void the return unit. Non return of exhange unit voids all warranty claims. If you do not have an exchange unit there is a £400 surcharge
Free Transmission Diagnostic Vehicle Checks :
Bring your Freelander to our facility and we will be happy to check the transmission free of charge. We have the knowledge and diagnostic equipment that can quickly check for any transmission faults on the vehicle.
Alternatively if you suspect your viscous coupling unit (VCU) or Haldex unit is faulty, post it to us and we will test it on our test jig free of charge. If the unit tests OK all you have to pay is the return postage.
